Offerings:
As a professional musician and educator you will find me engaged anywhere there is live music and an audience. Listed below is a sampling of projects I have been involved in and work that I currently do.
Music Lessons
As a graduate of the Berklee School of Music in Boston with a degree in performance, I have been trained in reading and performing music across a variety of instruments and music styles. One of my passions is to share my knowledge with people young and old and develop strategies tailored to fit each student’s learning needs. For more on private, group or virtual music lessons see my page on music lessons.
Private Events
Add a musical aspect to your family celebration, community gathering or group event. Depending on the vibe you desire, I can provide a broad range of musical offerings as a soloist or with other musicians.
Add an Extra Layer of Sound for Live Performance or Studio
In most studio or live settings auxiliary percussion is used primarily to add extra sparkle and syncopated spice to a track. There are many ways you can use percussion in a track, alongside your drum part, in order to create a more colorful, dynamic groove. It is common for groups to bring in an experienced percussionist to play this role on an as needed basis. I offer extensive experience with a wide variety of percussive instruments and rhythms from many musical traditions that can fit into any musical setting.
Add Some Ambiance
For quieter settings like restaurants and coffee houses people want to meet and talk, an instrument like the Kamale N’goni can give your venue a unique sophisticated feeling without overwhelming customers.
Do the New New Thing
Why hire just a DJ or just live musicians when you can have both? Combining a DJ and a musician can give you the appeal of live music with the variety offered with recorded music. See this recent performance at a local Miami venue.
Drum Circles and Sound Healing
For Drum Circles, I act as a facilitator/coordinator to lead the group through varied rhythm explorations. These musical gatherings are found in a variety of settings such as youth camps, school programs and elder services. Participants do not need previous musical experience and the action of drumming can feel good. This is why drum circles can be used in counseling and therapy. When everyone is playing together and in the groove, they're relaxing and relieving stress.
Yoga and Dance Classes
Take your yoga or dance class to the next level with live music. Starting with the Boston Conservatory years ago I have had the privilege to work with many dance and yoga groups. Live music always adds something special to these sessions. See the video of a recent session I did with a local yoga group right here in Miami.
